Brazil’s Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that homophobic slurs are now punishable by prison, in a decision applauded by rights activists in a country with rampant violence against the LGBTQ+ community.

The 9-1 ruling puts homophobic hate speech on the same legal level as racist hate speech, which was already punishable by prison in Brazil.
Justice Edson Fachin, the lead judge on the case, said in his ruling it was a “constitutional imperative” to give LGBTQ+ citizens equal protection under the law.
The court had ruled in 2019 that homophobia was a crime, just like racism.
But the earlier decision applied to slurs against the LGBTQ+ community as a whole, not attacks on specific individuals.
love the idea of Batman struggling with Gotham because it’s so crime ridden, cursed, etc but when he liaises in another city it takes all of two seconds for him to arrest a drug ring, topple a corrupt city government, and put upwards of 25 people in prison without breaking a sweat.
You’re taking a specialized predator and putting it in a place that has no natural defenses. It’s like cats on New Zealand.

Stagnant is a really terrible word choice, marinades are about flavor and if sufficiently acidic can penetrate and tenderize about a quarter inch into the meat, while brines use salt to make meat tender and juicy all the way through but impart relatively little flavor other than risk of over salting.
You want to avoid brining and marinating at the same time, but brining first, then marinating can make for some exquisite cooking. Also don’t switch the order, brining second will steal the marinade flavors, and for thinner cuts a marinade might be all you need anyway.
I’m relieved this post has some good replies rejecting this brine propoganda.
